She is the daughter of Egeus. She wants to marry Lysander but Egeus wants her to marry Demetrius instead, as he finds him worthier. Hermia is quite persistent about her wills and she is ready to do anything in order to marry Lysander (like escaping from Athens and staying in the woods). Hermia also seems to be persistent in her emotions, as she is very disappointed and surprised when she cannot see Lysander in the woods anymore (as in Act II, Scene II).
